‘Rock ‘n Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ Guitar Tutorial

AC DC Guitar Intro

One of the coolest things about learning guitar at Scottsdale Music Academy is the ability to see guitar tutorials on how to play your favorite rock ‘n roll guitar songs.

In the clip below, John shows you how to rock the intro of AC/DC’s classic rocker “Rock n Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution. This song was the final song on the band’s 1980 classic LP “Back in Black”. You’ll note in the AC/DC guitar tutorial below that John is using a hybrid pick, a combination of using both a pick and fingers to achieve that distinct picking and strumming sound.

To start, place your finger on the 3rd string, 1st fret, and use your right hand to pick the 2nd and 3rd strings. Then, barre the 2nd fret of the G and B strings and finger pick for the next chord. The third chord will be 3rd fret, B string, and 4th fret, G string.

Step 1) Continue to move these three chords up and down until you get the feel of the intro. Next start to play the A string, to add some lower end to the second chord, and go back to the first chord.

Step 2) The next part adds a pop on the low E string, 3rd fret (G note) and then release the low E note. This sequence brings you to the start of the intro again.

Step 3) Eventually, the band kicks in with the drum beat, and second guitars. You can see the rest of the chords and the words to this song here.
