From SMA Student To Dasha’s Guitarist

This month, we had one of those full-circle moments that remind us why we do what we do.

Grady Byrne, a longtime student of SMA founder John Davis, rolled back into town as the guitarist for rising country star Dasha during her stop at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, AZ. It’s one thing to watch students grow in the lesson room — it’s another to see them light up a real stage, touring the country, living the dream.

We had the chance to catch Dasha’s high-energy set, and Grady absolutely crushed it — blending slick guitar work with the kind of stage presence that only comes from years of real dedication. After the show, we hung out backstage, catching up and swapping stories about the road, the grind, and the journey from local lessons to national stages.

Grady’s evolution as a player is a perfect example of what happens when talent meets commitment. Watching him onstage wasn’t just inspiring — it was a proud reminder that the work put in at Scottsdale Music Academy pays off far beyond the classroom.

Way to go, Grady — we’re proud to be part of your story!
